08/10/09
Acupuncture is very popular nowadays and it has a very old and rich history. It has originated in China approximately 5000 years ago and has been treating numerous diseases since then.
It is one of the main and the most widespread components of traditional Chinese medicine, which is still being used by modern physicians.
The belief of existence of some natural energy from the universe which flows in a healthy human body is the basic concept of Chinese acupuncture. The main illness reason is thought to be imbalance of this universe energy or so called Qi (Chi, Ch’i, to be pronounced ‘chee’). Here it is when acupuncture comes to rescue.
Acupuncture is being handled with the help of tiny little needles. These are inserted into patient’s skin at some specific places on the body. The places are somewhat hot-spots leading to the body’s meridians. Meridians are believed to be the canals through which the Qi energy flows. The needles must be inserted in diverse depths to adjust the balance Yin and Yang and restore body health and harmony.
There are several diseases enjoying successful acupuncture treatment, such as migraines, tension headaches, muscle pain, sinusitis, asthma and even infertility. Acupuncture alternative medicine works by stimulating nervous system and releasing special chemicals in muscles, brain and spinal cord. These chemicals help fight the diseases, especially pain related ones.
Acupuncture generally doesn’t have any side effects. Despite of that needles are the main tools of this therapy, it is not painful at all. Although it can differently affect individuals and some may even feel pain. To avoid this, one should consult a doctor before taking an acupuncture seance. So be patient and sure to refer to the right acupuncture clinic and get reliable treatment.
