Male Yeast Infection: Symptoms and Causes
Male yeast infection is not that common or very serious, but if you don’t pay attention to it and don’t treat it, it can give birth to more serious problems.
How does the problem occur? Yeasts are fungi types that boom in moist, warm and shady parts of body, including mouth, skin and genitals. Candida albicans, which are species of yeast, are usually harmless for your body, but as they begin to overgrow and breed quickly, infection occurs.
Causes. The only cause of male yeast infection that first comes to men’s mind is the fact that it was sexually transmitted from an infected partner. But this is only one of the many causes of this infection. So here is the list of other causes that physicians revealed:
- overuse of antibiotics
- stress
- hormonal changes
- diabetes
- use of corticosteroid medications
- use of creams and condoms, which change the chemical balance of the skin
- sexual intercourse with an infected partner
Symptoms. Usually male yeast infection symptoms are in fact not apparent and it becomes difficult to know whether you are affected or not. The symptoms, if there are any, can be of two types — obvious and discreet. The obvious symptoms are sores on the head or along the shaft of the penis, or white spots on the foreskin. In other cases you can notice white and transparent discharge.
The discreet male yeast infection symptoms include feeling of itching and burning while urinating or, even worse, constantly. You feel lack of energy, mood swings, inability to concentrate. Besides, the sexual intercourse can be painful and unpleasant.
So if you ever come across these symptoms, consult your doctor immediately, because even if you think that male yeast infection is not a dangerous thing, it can still affect your life and cause other, more serious problems.
