Home Nursing Care For ElderlyI am sure that when a person is healthy, then whatever age he has, that age is just a matter of number. But when the life’s summer grows to a cold winter, he/she gradually starts feeling the inevitable frost.

Illnesses or weakness that may hit an old man are the main reasons for turning to home nursing care.

Sometimes people don’t see any difference between a home care and a custodial care. Whereas there is. A home care refers to the care that you will get by special licensed personnel.

Custodial care is provided by non-professionals. These people may not even be doctors or nurses, but just people who think that they have proper characteristics for home nursing jobs.

But I advise you to hire a professional nurse for your care who will not be only skillful, but also have some previous experience. And your nurse should always consult with your doctor.

There are three types of elderly home care - personal care services, specialized care services and skilled care services.  Their difference is based on the services they provide.

Personal care involves the following services – companionship, meal preparation, bathing and dressing you, motion exercises, medication reminders, shopping, laundry, lifting and transferring.

Specialized elderly care services offer care for such diagnosis like dementia, heart disease and heart failure, emphysema, diabetes, depression, mental illnesses and sclerosis. In this case each diagnosis demands each own care plan, which will be formed by the nurse and introduces to you or your family member.

Skilled care services will offer you post-operative care, injections, tube feeding, nutrition therapy, respiratory and cardiac care, and medication and wound care management.

All these types of services for health care for elderly can be provided in two ways – hourly or full-time with the nurse living in your house.

The prices are not high, but they are not low either. You will have to pay an average amount – $22-$30 for each visit.

The services that home nursing care will provide you with stand for the benefits that you will have from them. But the main benefit will be – your peace of mind. Peace from worries and troubles which will handle your nurse.

At the end I want to add that in the chain of a complete circle of life you are first young, then mature and after that old. But to be old doesn’t mean to be ill, it just means that you need constant care and attention. So, let your family members and your nurse help you with that.
