Avoid Wearing Eyeglasses In The Future :: By Emma
16/02/10
It is a common misunderstanding that everybody must wear eyeglasses when they become older. Now scientists say that if you simply take care of your eyesight from a young age, the risk of wearing eyeglasses will considerably reduce.
Did you know that your eyes also get thirsty just as you do? That’s why water is essential for the safety of your eyes.
Drink at least two glasses of water a day to help keep your eyes moist. You may also keep them open for a couple of seconds while you wash, or sprinkle a few drops of water into your eyes opened wide.
Even if your eyes are terribly itchy, try not to rub them, especially when your hands are dirty.
Don’t forget to use vegetables rich in nutritional vitamins, for example carrots.
Reduce the use of alcohol and cigarettes. Why?
Alcohol cuts down the amount of the antioxidant that protects your eyes from infection.
And smoking not only promotes bronchitis and pneumonia–you are also more likely to acquire eye cataracts sooner than non-smokers. Smoking also causes infection of the blood vessels. So if you don’t want to lose your eyesight in the future, try to give up smoking as soon as possible.
Whenever you happen to be under the sun, always put on sunglasses that protect your eyes from harmful UV rays.
Try not to wear your favorite contact lenses all day long. Let your eyes rest for at least five hours a day in order to minimize the risk of eye inflammation.
It is no secret that the computer harms your eyes more than anything else, even more than the television set. Thus, you should try to stay away from the computer screen whenever possible.
So follow these basic recommendations from now on to avoid wearing glasses in the future.
