Headache: Causes And TreatmentThere are numerous factors that lead to headache. In general headache causes are divided into three major categories:

  • Primary headaches
  • Secondary headaches
  • Cranial nerve pain headaches

Let’s discuss them. Primary headaches include tensions, migraine, and cluster headaches. Even though primary headaches are not life-threatening, you should call a doctor as soon as possible. Medics still have not revealed primary headache causes but they suppose it happens due to contraction of skull muscles which grows into spasms.

Secondary headaches are caused due to structural problems in the head or neck. For instance, there may be bleeding in the brain.

A cranial nerve pain headache starts because of nerve inflammation in the head and perhaps in the neck.

Once you feel that you are suffering from a headache, don’t hesitate to ask for a medical assistance. In order to give a proper diagnosis a doctor will ask you some questions and learn more about your heath history.  Some headaches may affect daily life while others are even life-threatening. As soon as the doctor reveals the diagnosis, he’ll prescribe you certain medications.

Sometimes headache causes are also due to various illnesses, head trauma or concussion. In order to determine your problem you may need to undergo a tomography and blood tests.

Symptoms of  headaches include pain in the head and neck, pressure near the eyes, irritability, nausea and difficulty concentrating. The sooner you start the treatment program, the sooner you will recover.

Headache treatment includes taking medications and stress management. It’s rather important to overcome nervous situations.

There are two programs for taking medications: abortive and prophylactic. Prophylactic treatment is when you have to take medications every day and abortive is when you take medications once you feel a headache coming on.

Unless there’s a serious problem you’ll be prescribed low doses of medicines and it won’t be mandatory to take them daily. But if you suffer from frequent attacks, then it’s better to follow prophylactic treatment.
