Cancer Insurance — Is It Reasonable? :: By Ani
08/02/10
One of the worst diseases that can affect us is cancer with its various types and degrees of complexity. Unfortunately, so far a cure has not been found.
The only thing that doctors can do is to prescribe different treatments, while the only thing the family can do is to show their care and support. Meantime, insurance companies take on the responsibility of paying expenses for treatment. Today the Internet is full of different free insurance quotes which offer their own plans.
Nowadays people are talking a lot about cancer insurance. It is a relatively new concept that you are likely to be unaware of.
I am sure that every person who has cancer will feel relieved knowing that there is such a type of insurance. But you shouldn’t hurry. The reason is that you can’t get an insurance quote if you already have cancer.
The idea of cancer insurance is the following: you get that insurance considering the probability of having that illness in the future. To get it you need to be examined by a doctor. If you turn out to be healthy then you can sign a contract for cancer insurance.
Take into account that you can’t lie to them or try to cheat, because if the insurance company discovers you’re lying, your contract will become null and void.
Here are some of the benefits of cancer insurance:
- You get a considerable sum of money after your diagnosis shows that you have cancer
- The money is paid directly to you
- You get the money no matter whether you have any other type of medical or life insurance
- Your stay in the hospital, chemotherapy and radiation expenses are covered by the insurance either partly or fully depending on the policy you choose
There are policies that may also cover the expenses of illnesses which occurred because of cancer (like pneumonia).
Also if you have another health insurance together with cancer insurance, it does not mean that your previous policy will also pay for the expenses. In such cases mostly your cancer insurance company pays the expenses.
So, before getting a cancer insurance policy carefully look through the other types of insurance and compare them. Some health insurance policies offer plans which include cancer insurance too.
