Choose The Right Dental Insurance Plan :: By Nazeli
25/01/10
Nearly everyone has gone through horrible tooth pain. The causes of tooth pain are different: tooth decay, gum disease, root sensitivity, wisdom tooth appearance and so on.
Magic will not prevent you from tooth pain –you need to practice good oral hygiene.
Nowadays keeping your teeth in good condition may be a little difficult. The issue is mainly connected with the payment of dentist bills. You may decide to skip regular checkups and cleanings to escape extra expenses, but this will, of course, lead to serious dental problems.
So, due to high costs of medical treatment, in every day life dental insurance becomes a necessity.
Individual dental insurance includes the following plans: Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO), Indemnity, Preferred Provider Organization (PRO) and Discount.
-
With a DHMO plan, the insurance company pays professional dentists to provide specific dental treatments and services to the patients free of charge, though sometimes a co-payment may be required for additional treatments.
-
Indemnity insurance gives you the opportunity to choose the dentist yourself. The insurance company pays half of the dentist’s fee or some predetermined amount. The patient should pay the difference.
-
PRO is a less expensive dental plan. This plan allows individuals to choose the dentist they want from a list of dental providers who offer reduced treatment fees according to a contract. The patients can also receive treatment from non-participating dentists, but in that case they may be responsible for co-payments.
-
A discount dental plan is not considered to be insurance, but it gives someone the chance to receive dental care with considerable discounts. This plan allows patients to get immediate treatment without a scheduled appointment.
All types of dental insurance may have both advantages and disadvantages. The same dental plan can’t be beneficial for everyone.
So, before purchasing compare all the dental plans and choose the one that suits your needs.
