19/02/10
A lot of people face the problem of addiction. There are various things people may become addicted to.
There are behavioral addictions, such as computer addiction, eating addiction, sex addiction and shopping addiction. There are substance addictions, such as addictions to opioids, nicotine, cocaine, caffeine, cannabis, inhalants, hallucinogens and more.
All addictions, however, involve both physical and psychological processes.
An addict might experience a number of signs which differ. For instance, there are some signs peculiar to opioids, others to narcotics like cocaine.
An addict may have extreme mood changes. He/she might seem to happy but a few moments later become sad, excited or anxious. Changes in energy might occur. One may unexpectedly get exhausted or extremely energetic.
Not getting adequate sleep is another sign of addiction. A person usually sleeps less or more than usual, or at different times of day or night.
Addicts might experience weight loss or weight gain. Unexpected and constant coughs or sniffles are also signs of addiction.
An addict is usually financially unpredictable. This means that sometimes an addict might have large amounts of cash and sometimes no money at all.
Another sign is acquiring new and unusual friends and engaging in strange cell-phone conversations. Other signs of addiction are secretiveness, lying and stealing.
Addiction treatment is not an easy process. However, visiting alchohol rehab or drug rehab centers is a key to overcoming addiction.
