Signs Of Anxiety Disorders :: By Rosa
22/10/09
There may be times when everyone feels anxious. Anxiety is a mental health condition that often appears without reason.
People who suffer from anxiety believe that a bad thing is going to happen. The signs of anxiety disorders are: headaches, muscle tension, digestive problems, irritability, dizziness, insomnia and shortness of breath. If such symptoms are apparent then it is necessary to visit a doctor as anxiety disorders can have serious results.
People who suffer from anxiety disorder can fall into depression and can have an addiction to alcohol and even drugs. They cannot concentrate on their work, and their relations with coworkers or family members can become strained.
The cause of anxiety disorders are not known, but some doctors confirm that genetics, environmental stresses and brain chemistry can support to the development of anxiety disorders. Some cases of anxiety can be successfully treated.
Anxiety therapy includes “behavioral therapy” and “cognitive therapy,” which are highly effective. In the process of behavioral therapy the patients are taught deep breathing techniques and relaxation.
With cognitive therapy the patients understand that their thoughts contribute to the symptoms of anxiety disorders. They learn how to change their thoughts in order to reduce the appearance of anxiety. But in order to succeed cognitive therapy should be combined with behavioral therapy.
It should be noted that people who suffer from anxiety can’t be cured immediately; a patient and therapist should work as a team in order to overcome the condition.
