Troubles Again?
The beautiful period of adolescence is very often referred to as a time for problems, difficulties and worries – seems like every other teen should be considered as ‘troubled’.
Sometimes you can find reasons in the environment, be that the school or the neighborhood, but mostly nothing can be stated for sure.
In fact, the subject of troubled teens starts being considered as soon as your teenage son or daughter begin to show stubbornness, foolishness, capriciousness, laziness, touchiness or insolence. However these characteristics are not sufficient for stigmatizing your youngster as a troubled one.
More alert attention should be paid to this concern if you regularly detect physical or verbal aggression, indiscipline, rudeness, falsity or any other form of inadequate affective behavior.
Working with troubled teens requires particular caring and highly individual approach to their inner world, kind treatment and regard, reliance on positive qualities and firm belief in the constructive potential. These are supposed to be found within girls and boys boarding schools, teen rehab centers, Christian recovery programs or a troubled teens boot camp.
Efforts to correct teenagers’ problems just by persuasions and reprimands are likely to come to nothing. Visible outcome may be expected in case the juvenile be involved in various activities that develop their curiosity and thirst for challenge. No matter the decision you make developing your attitude towards this topic, just keep in mind a few suggestions.
First, think about the problem of your troubled teen from his/her and not your point of view. Try to overcome your own worries to see those of the child.
Second, avoid betraying your youngster’s confidence and try not to misuse punishments and prohibitions.
And finally, refer to the difficulties in your relationships philosophically, as no upbringing of a child is easy, even if all optimal conditions and resources be given.
