Natural Sleep Aids :: By Rosa
05/11/09
There may be times when almost everyone suffers sleepless nights. Lack of sleep can result in chronic fatigue, poor concentration, irritability, depression, heart disease, sleep apnea, lung disease, hot flashes or diabetes.
And in case you have trouble sleeping, before taking natural sleep aids see a doctor. Try to learn about herbal therapy before trying it out. For example, one of the methods for better sleep is drinking a cup of Chamomile tea before bedtime. But if you suffer from allergies don’t take this tea. Before bedtime you can drink Valerian tea as an alternative. Pour two teaspoons of Valerian root into boiling water and drink.
Sleepless nights can be a result of noise, bedroom atmosphere and even the mattress and pillow. Your bedroom should be very comfortable, quiet and dark, and the temperature should be neither cold nor too hot.
If you want to sleep better than try not to smoke. Take naps in the afternoon and listen to a slow, relaxing music. Late in the day don’t drink caffeine as it is a stimulant and can keep you awake.
Enjoy warm drinks containing milk before bedtime as milk contain peptides which enhances better sleep.
It’s necessary to be physically tired, so try to do exercises and walk much during the day instead of taking sleep medications.
